Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort September 2023 Day 9

Today is our last day. It’s cooler, cloudy and windy but dry this morning.

Plans have changed for today. We spoke with out friends in Beaufort at length last night on the phone. Unfortunately they will be unable to see us in person due to illness. Hopefully all will be well and we’ll come back and see them soon. This means we’re free so I have made a loose plan. We are going to a couple of stores, have lunch at Gruby’s New York style Deli and get boarding passes printed. Of course I will pack both suitcases and get us ready to depart early in the morning for the Savannah airport.

We went to Walmart where I was very happy to shop, perhaps too happy? I bought a couple of things for the kids and then Roy told me to stop. He didn’t even look at Hilton Head shirts. He usually buys one each trip.

After the fun trip to Walmart we stopped at Belk but Roy couldn’t wait to get out of there.

We definitely outsmarted ourselves leaving the last 2 days for the pools. It is too cool, windy and feels like it might rain again.

Before leaving again we stopped at the front desk for our boarding passes. Sad to go but happy there were no problems completing the process. While I was there a couple wanted to extend their stay but the resort is 100% full.

We were looking forward to our lunch at Gruby’s. We return to this restaurant every time we visit Hilton Head and it didn’t disappoint!

Roy doesn’t eat much soup at home but we both got a bowl of matzo ball soup. It was delicious!

We decided to share a corned beef sandwich and I didn’t know until after we ate that they charged us $2 extra to share that sandwich. That’s strange but it is what it is. We wouldn’t argue.

Just for fun Roy decided to try our the little putting green in front of our building. It was good for some laughs since it’s not level at all and it’s not easy to reach down and get the ball out of the hole.

Tonight we picked up dinner from the quick service window Tide Me Over next to the Mercantile store. Pixie dusted by the cast member there with a cup of pineapple, raspberry swirl Dole Whip. I had dessert before dinner.

A few more pictures of the deck area.

We carried our dinner back to the villa to eat.

It might surprise you that the hotdog is mine and Roy has chicken tenders. He plans to have a Costco hotdog for dinner tomorrow.

A last look from my porch. I think a friend came to say good-bye
